Andrew L Hall

Founder of Inner Landscape Psychology

Registered Psychologist | Psychotherapist

Psychology

Andrew came to psychology first as a client and has lived experience and a genuine understanding about going through and treating certain mental health challenges. Through psychology, Andrew was able to learn about and overcome the things that he was struggling with. The experience was deeply transformative and profound for Andrew and inspired him to dedicate his professional life to becoming a psychologist, so that he could offer people the same opportunity to change their lives through psychology, therapy and counselling.

Beyond Psychology

Beyond psychology, Andrew is passionate about art, creativity and nature. Andrew has been a professional musician for over 20 years and has worked in various roles throughout his working life, including cinema projectionist, retail manager, boot salesman, hostel night manager, landscape gardener, head cook, entertainer and film score composer. Outside of psychology, Andrew enjoys spending time with his family and friends, creating and enjoying art, searching for extraordinary coffee, inhabiting bookshops or cinemas, and spending time in nature.

How Andrew Works

Andrew is known for working with clients to build a safe, trusting and warm therapeutic relationship, understanding that a sound therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone to successful counselling and therapy. Andrew tailors his approach to fit the unique needs and experiences of each person that he works with. Andrew offers his clients emotional attunement, empathetic understanding, authentic collaboration and genuine care.

Andrew works by thoughtfully exploring the significant cognitive, emotional and behavioural aspects of his clients lived experiences, working to develop greater awareness and insight around these aspects. Andrew explores the function and historical origins of these aspects, considering how they may have changed or remained fixed over time, while holding space for new experiences and possibilities to emerge.

Andrew draws from a wealth of professional and lived experience and works with various evidence-based approaches including Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Person-Centred Therapy (Rogerian).

Andrew is a Registered Psychologist, experienced Psychotherapist and Supervisor in training. Types of Therapy

Evidence-Based Treatment Approaches

Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)

A humanistic approach that helps people understand, experience, and transform their emotions to foster healing and growth, viewing emotions as vital guides for meaning and action rather than problems to be fixed.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

A mindfulness-based psychotherapy that helps people accept difficult thoughts and emotions rather than fighting or avoiding them, while committing to actions aligned with their core values to build a more meaningful life.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

A structured, goal-oriented psychotherapy that helps people identify and change unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours, focusing on how thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are interconnected to improve mental and physical well-being.

Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian)

A humanistic talk therapy focusing on the client as the expert in their own life, empowering them to find their own solutions through a non-directive, supportive environment built on the therapist's genuine empathy and unconditional positive regard to foster self-discovery and growth towards self-actualisation.

Orientation to Therapy

Getting started and what to expect

You can begin by contacting us, which you can do via the contact section of this website found below, or by emailing andrew@innerlandscapepsychology.com.au directly. In your message, please feel free to share who you are, what you are wanting to work on and what you hope to get out of therapy.

If at this stage you are somewhat unsure of what you are hoping to get out of therapy, that is absolutely fine, and not uncommon. This is something that we can explore together in your initial session.

We will respond to you within 24 hours and help guide you towards the next steps, such as making a booking, reading our Client Information Document and completing our online Intake Form.

You do not need a Referral Letter or Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) to begin therapy at Inner Landscape Psychology, however, if you are eligible and wanting to claim Medicare rebates you will need to obtain these documents.

The fee for a standard 50-minute (approx.) session at Inner Landscape Psychology is $230.

Medicare Rebates (Moneyback)

The current Medicare rebate (moneyback) amount is $98.95 per session as of July 2025, making the out-of-pocket cost for Medicare rebated sessions $131.05.

Eligible clients are typically entitled to access up to 10 Medicare rebated sessions per calendar year.

If you are wanting to claim Medicare rebates, you will need to visit your GP or Psychiatrist to obtain (1) a Referral Letter and (2) a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP). Once you receive your Referral Letter and Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP), you will need to send a PDF copy of these documents to andrew@innerlandscapepsychology.com.aubefore your initial session.

Third Party Funding

Inner Landscape Psychology does not currently offer psychological services to clients funded through third-party schemes such as NDIS, WorkCover, TAC, VOCAT, DVA, or any other third-party funding organisation.

Private Health Insurance

Clients may be eligible for rebates under their private health insurance (not to be used in addition to Medicare rebates). If you are using private health insurance, the rebate amount will depend on your particular fund. It is advised that clients check with their private health insurance funds about their specific entitlements.

More information about sessions, fees, rebates, private health insurance, and other aspects can be found in our Client Information Document.

In Person

Inner Landscape Psychology currently offers in person sessions from our clinical space at 420 Sydney Road, Coburg (within the Solana Psychology clinic).

Remote | Telehealth | Telephone

We also offer Telehealth sessions Australia wide via our secure Telehealth service Coviu. This allows flexibility for clients to attend sessions from the comfort and privacy of their own environment, or for when clients are otherwise unable to attend the clinic in person.

Inner Landscape Psychology services Greater Melbourne, Coburg, Preston, Pascoe Vale, Brunswick, Northcote, Thornbury, Westgarth, Clifton Hill, Fitzroy, Collingwood, Carlton, Parkville, North Melbourne, Ascot Vale, Moone Ponds, Essendon, Niddrie, Strathmore, Glenroy, Tullamarine, Alphington, Eaglemont, Ivanhoe, Heidelberg, Reservoir, Fawkner, Thomastown, Lalor, Epping, Mill Park, Doreen, South Morang, Mernda, Wollert, Craigieburn, Whittlesea, Bundoora, Watsonia, Fairfield, Footscray, Greensborough, Kingsbury, and surrounds.

Inner Landscape Psychology also services locations Australia wide via Telehealth offering interstate, regional and remote communities psychological services securely and remotely.

In your initial session we will spend most of our time building a therapeutic relationship, while learning about your life, and establishing what you hope to get out of therapy. Towards the end of the session, we will form a plan together in terms of how to proceed based on your therapy goals.

From then on, we will work collaboratively towards your therapy goals while creating space for anything else that might emerge throughout your therapeutic journey.

The ideal and typical frequency of sessions is fortnightly, however greater or lesser frequency can be considered if necessary. There is no way of knowing how long your therapeutic journey will take, but as long as our work is meaningful and useful to you, then we know that we are on the right track.

It is important to know that therapy is not a quick fix, and it is not necessarily easy, and like most things worth doing, therapy often involves effort, challenge and dedication in the pursuit of meaningful change, growth or healing.

When considering your mental health, it can be helpful to think of it in similar terms to your physical fitness and health. Just as your physical fitness and health exists on a continuum, your mental health also exists on a continuum and is something that you can engage with as you wish, at various stages of life. As such, you can engage in therapy when it is necessary or useful to you, for as long as that is, and you can take breaks or disengage for periods when you are not needing such specific support.

We all have our own relationship with ourselves and with our own mental health, and your therapeutic journey will be unique and special in its own ways. Inner Landscape Psychology is here and ready to work with you along that journey, wherever, whenever and however that may be.
